Thank you for your interest in the Utah State University I-System Institute for Transdisciplinary Studies, I-System Model and Mind-Body Bridging Certification Program, which consists of three online, 3 credit hour or 4.5 CE hours, semester long courses (Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced). The I-System Institute website link is: i-system.usu.edu
The I-System Model and Mind-Body Bridging Foundation Course required for Certification will be offered again Spring Semester 2021 (Jan 18th-May 5th). In this Foundation course one will learn the basics of the I-System Model and Mind-Body Bridging principles and practices with their Micro, Meso, and Macro applications to Social Work and clinical practice. This MBB evidence-based transdiagnostic intervention alleviates psychological distress for a range of mental health issues.
Much of the instruction is accessed online through the Canvas platform, with videos, reading, and other assignments. Weekly classes are online broadcast via Zoom to your home computer, and are held at the same time each week (once a week for about one hour for 14 weeks, and the actual day and time will be determined together with those who enroll).
To be eligible, one must have completed or be currently enrolled in a Master of Social Work, Master of Science, or Master of Arts, in a related field of study. However, for bachelor level licensed substance abuse counselors we will waive this prerequisite and allow them to enroll in the Continuing Education version (CESS 5905) of the course.
The cost of the course for non-degree seeking students is only $600 for 4.5 Continuing Education Credit Hours. Matriculated degree seeking students will pay the USU MSW Program standard tuition for 3 Credit Hours ($428/credit hour).
Students who are licensed clinicians and who successfully complete all three I-System Model and Mind-Body Bridging courses (Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced) will be Certified MBB Therapists. Bachelor level licensed Substance Abuse Counselors who successfully complete all three courses will be Certified MBB Substance Abuse Counselors.
Non-degree seeking students may access the link at https://socialwork.usu.edu/i-system-institute/usu-courses to register for the course: CESS 5905 (4.5 CE Hours) I-SYSTEM/MBB-FOUNDATION (Please note that the CESS registration link for Spring Semester will not be available until the end of November or first of December 2020).
